Blog: Drag!

I'm at work in this crazy outfit typing this and I've got to go have a meeting with the guys from the Trades School in a few minutes, I think I'm more nervous about that than walking through the mall! A huge thank you to Just Costumes and Body Ambience for the costume and make up for today you guys did a fantastic job, thumbs up. Today was about stretching my comfort zone just that little bit further. The whole 30 Fears thing is for me an analogy of how successful goal setting can work. If you break your goal down into bite sized chucks then tackle the easier stuff first you will build up your confidence, which will change the way you feel about the next bite size challenge and before you realise it you're confident and actually excited about the scary parts! This is all the stuff we do with teenagers at Discovery. Today was scarier than standing on the round-about but not as scary as dancing as a cheerleader at the Tasman Mako's game, so I'm building up slowly in bite size chunks to achieve the really challenging and scary stuff that is coming up. There were a couple of times when I got left on my own today and I felt my anxiety levels grow, it has highlighted once again how much easier it is to do scary stuff when you have people there supporting you.

I'm off busking tomorrow which is something I have always wanted to do but never had enough confidence, right now I'm thinking hey if I can dress up like Pricilla Queen of the Desert and walk through a busy mall at lunch-time then surely I can do an hour busking! We also raised $85 for the Discovery programme today!
